My Singapore Savings Bond Portal Review
MAS has recently launched a My Singapore Savings Bond portal where you can check your holdings for SSBs, keep track of your incoming interest and compare interest rates. This is a quick review of the portal. SingPass is required to access to the portal.
Once you login, you will see 3 main sections.
- My Savings Bonds
- Upcoming Interest Payments
- This Month's Timeline
The first section shows an overall summary of your holdings and the breakdown into both Cash and SRS holdings. It will show the total interest payment you will receive if you hold all your holdings to maturity. You will also see the remaining amount which you can apply before reaching the Individual Limit of $200,000.
You can then click on the 'View Details' to see the details of your holdings.
From this page, you can select up to 3 issues for interest rates comparison. You can also check your pending transactions such as application and redemption, and past transactions.
Under the Compare SSB page, you will be able to compare the interest rates for each year. You can also select this month's bond from the dropdown menu. The limitation is that you can only select those issues which you are holding currently and not issues which you do not own.
The second section from the main page shows the upcoming interest payment for the next 12 months or 10 years. For those who are using SSBs to clock your DBS Multiplier account, you will be able see which are the missing months easily.
The last section shows the timeline for the upcoming issue of SSB. This is a good presentation of the upcoming events but it would be better if this information is made available on the main page of SSB site instead of showing this in the portal. The hassle of requiring users to login before allowing access to this information is unnecessary.
In conclusion, I think this is a good initiative by MAS, but this is not a portal which I will be accessing frequently as there is very little value added.
