The markets have started to show some retracement recently although
there isn’t any major negative news. Perhaps the rally has over extended and
people are starting to cut their winning positions. For the US market, the
trend upward is still looking good with only minor dips occasionally. I was
able to add another ETF during the ‘de-leveraging’ event where hedge funds allegedly
sold of their winning positions to cover losses in shorting meme stocks. This
increased my ETF holdings for my satellite portfolio to 6 ETFs. I am still
looking to increase the allocation of the satellite portfolio and will buy on
dips.
The STI, on the other hand, is on a slow and gradual downtrend as the narrative of Singapore recovering from the pandemic did not take off. It is believed that the economy will continue to be lacklustre for a longer period than expected. I will be slowing down my purchases in Singapore market and just let the existing core portfolio to continue to generate income through dividends.
