After a month of consolidation, we are finally seeing a breakout in prices, especially the retail REITs and bank sectors. Portfolio is recovering well and with unrealized profits. I also made a few capital injections over the past few months and my portfolio value is now closed to pre-COVID levels.

I was trying out one of the new visualizations and is now able to breakdown my profit and lost by sectors. I was surprised with what I saw that most of my profits came from only 2 sectors, namely. REITs and Consumer. All the remaining sectors resulted in losses. This means I am really bad at picking stocks, and probably any monkey picking stocks could have outperformed me. If I had stick to just REITs, my portfolio results would have been better.

Even with this realization, I do not intend to change my strategy in investing. My focus has always been getting dividends as my passive income. Capital appreciation in stocks is definitely good, but I will see it as a bonus and not something I am going to chase for. One of the reasons why I would still want to invest in other sectors is that I do not know whether the REITs is a bubble which may one day burst. The other possibility is that REITs is sustainable industry which will gradually appreciate over time.

In summary, I would continue to invest in other sectors but I would also increase my weightage in REITs for the short to middle term.
